We got to the airport as the sun was rising up! Perfect early morning flight for a girls trip to Waco TX! Everyones husbands go up early to send us of. Jordan, Stef's husband dropped us off at the airport before heading to work. We left 6 husbands and a total of 13 children between us all we left 12 back in Colorado to venture to Waco Texas. 1 little guy got to venture along with the girls.

I love Stef because of how selfless she is. She has so much for all of her family, friends, and people in general. She caters to everyone in the best ways she can. She's willing to make sacrifices to help someone in need no matter the situation. She has so much love to give. And best of all, she loves me unconditionally. She shows her love for me every single day. She's the most amazing person I know.     -Stef's husband (Jordan)

Here we are! All 6 of us, looking a little on the sleepy side ;) Little Anthem got to travel along, he is 3 months and did such a great job traveling, so did mommy!

WE MADE IT TO AUSTIN
Picture
Picture
Once we got all our bags, with Erika's bag literally being the last bag out at baggage claim and rental cars we headed into Austin to find a place for lunch. We were getting HANGRY. Ended up at a super cute hipster restaurant called Elizabeth Street Cafe! The perfect spot for a girls trip. All the cute details in there had me snapping pics everywhere! Let me tell you though the heat in Texas is no JOKE! It was right around 110 degrees for the entire trip! Sweating like crazy & trying to stay cute can be quite the challenge!

& then we found donuts. Can't go on a birthday trip for Stefany & not get donuts ;). We ate them outside and then that when we really started feeling heat. So we decided we would get in the A/C cars and go antiquing. Checkout those names though so funny!

This was the first store we went into. The smell in these places, kills me, lol. Then we found a goodwill. Thats when we split up into two group. One group {me, Stacey, Anthem and Alisha} headed to Waco while the second {Stef, Erica, and Erika} did some crazy shopping and also found in  & out burger. We got to the house pretty late after sitting in traffic, it was about a 2 and half hour drive to Waco because of it. We grabbed some food, Jason's Deli and got settled in for the night. It was going to be an early morning to get breakfast at Magnolia Table. We planned to beat the lines.

Beat the lines we did! We waited for less than 5 minutes to get seated. This place is truly gorgeous, so many details to look at. They really though of everything. Every employee was so friendly and kind. It was a great experience. The food was outstanding, everything looked and tasted AMAZING!

Stef blesses me. She's so fun & giving. She makes things happen and brings people together, like this girls trip. She has made my life better in so many ways through experiences, support when I need it, and most of all love. She is truly a great friend and I am lucky enough that she's also family & loves my kiddos too. Through difficult times, long talks, good advice and tons of laughs, she blesses me.    -Stacey

After breakfast we headed over to the Magnolia Market, just a quick drive. We got there just before the lines grew for the bakery! The cupcakes are HUGE & outstanding. The line for the home store was insanely long but we got in there fairly quick, thank goodness cause it was over 100 degrees at that point.

Stefany is the definition of a true friend. You know without a doubt, that she will be there for you. She is the type of friend who will drop everything to go to the grocery store with you or get her nurse shifts covered to drive across the country with you. In a world of unknowns, she is the one steady thing you can count on. Her friendship means everything to me. She loves hard and expects nothing in return. She is a gift giver, a deep thinker, and a once in a lifetime friend. Cant think of anyone else id like to do life with.    -Erica

Stefany has been one of my longest and closest friends for over 13 years. She is giving, and thoughtful and strong and I am so grateful she's my friend. Im so glad we could take this trip to celebrate her beautiful life. I love her so much!    -Alisha

Stefany is like a sister to me. Someone who I can laugh with, cry with and pray with and know that there is no judgement. I admire her strength and courage to speak up when needed. Some times she gives me that little push I need in time of doubt. She is beautiful inside and out and I am so lucky to her a friend.     -Erika

Stef is awesome. Super blessed that our husbands brought us together through ball. She is super caring and always thinking of others, almost to fault. She has a BIG heart & I love her for it. She is wise beyond her 30 years! Its rare to find such a good friend in life, but I have definitely found that in her! She loves my children like they are her own, she's the chocolate to my vanilla ;).

Happy Anniversary to US! {10 years of marriage, 4 kids later}

"one of the great glories of married life is the opportunity to support one another and build your dreams together"

So, neither one of us is big on going all out for holidays, birthdays or anniversaries but 10 years...I felt like I needed to do a little something special for both of us to look at and remember all that we have been through together as partners, husband & wife as ONE.

Take it WAY back to B's junior year in high school this is when we met. Yes, I am 4 years older than him, let's just get that on the table now. I was 20 he was 16 & I knew he was special the day we met at the Lafayette Rec Center. There was something about him that made that 4 year gap not even phase me & I so was the girl who would usually be like " he is so young no way can I talk to him" and I would say that with such attitude. But not B, he was it for me.

Our first date we played some NBA video game that was my brothers at my parents house, I think the game was my brothers. Anyways, I beat him, but looking back I am pretty sure he let me beat him cause he "kills it" at everything. We had a pillow fight and that was that we were both smitten!

We started dating. He finished up high school & got a scholarship to play ball at a Junior College in Wyoming {we did the long distance thing}. That drive to Wyoming was a long one but worth it, and I drove it A LOT! We got engaged his Sophomore year of college one night in a parking lot before he drove back to Wyoming. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

I started nursing school and worked with Dementia patients at a SNF for about 2 years. After 2 years B moved to a school in Lakewood, CCU. I got a job as a nurse. We had a lot of growth in our relationship in his last two years of college. I have to thank J & B for all the support and love they poured out to us. I get teary eyed even thinking about our late night dinners and talks that sometimes turned into cry sessions, for me mostly, hahaha. Blessed that they were in our lives at just the right moment. God really does know what he is doing and man am i grateful.

We were planning our wedding, my mom was such an amazing help with all the details. I hardly did a thing. We didn't have Pinterest back then, cause if we did you better believe I would have had a wedding "board" ;) While we were planning our wedding, we found out that we were pregnant with Isaiah. It was a surprise for sure & we were excited but also a bit fearful of what to expect! First person we told was B's brother C.
Picture
I was 19 weeks pregnant walking down the isle. I will never forget what I ate that day, Pot Roast and Mashed Potatoes, it was the only thing that would keep me from throwing up, I had awful morning sickness with every single pregnancy. How many brides can say they ate that before walking down the isle. I am guessing not too many! That day was perfect, we had a very small wedding with close friends & family that could be there. I know B dreads to this day that my mom told him to shave for that day, he says he looked like a baby. Makes me giggle a bit!

We spent a few days at the spa & pool in Estes Park for our honeymoon. We didn't go anywhere because a few days after the wedding we got to find out the gender of the baby! Of course as you already know BABY BOY!

My mom put together a baby shower for us with all of our friends. ISAIAH was born on November 20th 2008. He was born early due to low fluid. His original due date was December 5th.

We have been through so much together since marriage both good and bad. I'll list a few:

-lived at my parents the first 6 months of marriage
-helped each other through both parents divorces
-my moms brain injury {bike accident}
-birthing 4 kids/morning sickness {only one fainting incident...bahahahaha}
-pregnancy scares {tiny hearts and brains are such miracles} blessed to have healthy children
-almost a car birth
-my thyroid failing
-weight loss
-sleepless nights for 10 years
-DIY projects galore SO FUN!
-teaching photography to myself and starting my own business
-starting our barn door business Sweet Woods
-3 moves {pretty sure I was pregnant for all of them except the last one and then had a newborn}
-my gallbladder removal surgery
-college basketball
-basketball overseas
-helping family through rough times
-raising little humans

The best part is that we have been there supporting each other through it all. Have we always supported each other the best way or the right way? NO, but marriage is all about learning, growing and developing one another so that we work in the best way possible together! I love this man more and more every single day & am so super excited about what the next ten years will bring our way!

Are we going for 5, we get asked this question every time we are somewhere public? HECK TO THE NO! 4 is our perfect sauce and we are sticking with that! We gave it an honest effort to get a girl, and it was not in the cards for us! It's major chaos on most days, between fighting over lego ninjagos, power rangers, swords...you get the point, sharing, not playing the right games, food, chairs at the table, seats in the car. Pretty much anything you can think of a child fighting with a sibling about it happens EVERYDAY! Some days require more coffee than others ;)

The other question we get is: You have 4 boys? Wow you must have your hands full...
ANSWER: Yes we sure the heck do have our hands full, but not any more full than a family with 4 girls or 2 boys and 2 girls, or 3 girls and 1 boy or 3 boys and 1 girl. 4 kids is 4 kids, regardless we are out numbered. I am out numbered 5-1 thats for sure but don't mind one bit. We were made to be parents of boys and god knew what he was doing ;)

Few words of advice for wifey's or soon to be wifey's for what its worth:

1. Grab that mans butt.
2. Tell him how much he is appreciated, loved and adored.
3. DATE HIM.
4, Relax together
5. Admit when your wrong and don't be a punk about it.
6. Stress less
7. SMILE, don't take yourself so seriously
8. Make yourself feel sexy every now and then, just cause your a mama doesn't mean you have to lose it.

CHEERS TO 10 more awesome years! Love you sweet cheeks!

Apple Pie, Fall Mini Sessions & moving to the country

10/4/2017

Happy Fall ya'll!! It's true fall weather has officially arrived! Kids are heading to school, germs are everywhere, like EVERYWHERE, hot chocolate is made daily in our home, the crisp chill in the air that makes you want to stay in bed all morning long, husbands going stir crazy from being inside, and then mama in the kitchen baking up some amazing fall yummy's for all to enjoy!

Today I decided I needed to use up the apples we had in our fruit bowl! I went with the ever so famous Apple Pie! Easy to make and makes your home smell like fall spit up! Makes ya just wanna cuddle up on the couch and watch senseless girly movies all day! Let's be real that isn't happening for me, since I have 4 children but I love the feeling of COZY in my home! So I bake ALOT in the fall & winter! What would you like me to blog about next?
Picture
Slice 8 cups worth of apples!
Picture
Picture
Mix sliced apples with all ingredients in a large bowl and dump into your pie crust {you can make homemade or use store bought}! Your kiddos will be begging for an apple slice at this point {you can spare a few ;)}
Picture
Mix the topping ingredients and crumble over top of pie!
Picture
Bake @ 375 for 50-55 minutes! Get ready for that AMAZING smell!
Picture
Picture
That yummy goodness! I can't hardly wait!!!

The journey of the first year {ONE year/Parker}

6/22/2017

So, rewind way back to when I first met this couple! We met at Anthem in Broomfield for their Maternity session! I can remember the anticipation for their first baby boy to arrive was just all over their faces! Being a photographer, I love that I get to experience the excitement & wonder that comes from a set of new parents ready to meet their first baby! By the time we shoot maternity sessions, moms are always a bit anxious and ready to be "done being pregnant" {moms you hear me right?}! I have done this 4 times, I know that feeling all to well. From swollen ankles, to back pain...you name it we feel it! But gosh I would do it over and over again if I could!
Picture
She had the cutest little bump! It was and still is obvious the love that these two share!! ADORE!
Picture
Fast forward to newborn shoot day! I remember feeling so sick this morning, as I was also pregnant at the time, with our 4th little guy. So I stopped at Santiagos, I always crave Mexican food! Brought them an extra Santiagos Burrito as well, what new parent isn't starving! Am I right?

Then fast forward A TON to today! This little guy is ONE already! Feel like that FLEW by! It really has been an honor and pleasure to watch not only him grow but the three of you grow as a family! Thank you for blessing me with your journey of your first year as parents! Hope you guys enjoy all the photos we have been able to capture over the year! Look forward to seeing you lots and lots more as well! Parker is growing up into such an amazing little boy!

Local Colorado Photographer {maternity, newborn, children & families}

Hi there! My name is Kelly! I started my photography business about 8 years ago! I started with the intention to just get some good quality photos of my, at the time, only child. Fast forward 8 years and we now have 4 children and my business has taken off into something I could have never imagined it would and I could not love being a photographer more than I do!

I am very greatful for ALL the families that I have been able to meet thus far! I cannot wait to meet new families this year as well! I know this area is growing like wild flowers so I am sure there are lots of new families to meet! We just recently moved our family from Erie to Frederick due to needing a larger house with baby #4 on the way! He arrived in December, and we could not be more excited to have 4 boys. With that move I gained a studio space that I am IN LOVE with {phone pics below}!
Picture
I would love to chat with you and talk about your needs to capture you kiddos through all the stages they will be going through! They are only little for such a small amount of time! I learn that more and more with each kiddo we have, it is insane how quickly they change and grow up!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have for me! I would love to hear from you & hopefully meet you soon!
